Games in General? As long as you have the money for it, you can buy any game without a problem.
Now, I assume you are asking the minimum age to buy Mature games in the UK, rather than games for younger people. Actually, recently, the ESRB, the guys who administer rating to games, have toned down on the strictness of people who can buy Mature games. As of late, I can't find any new specifying that you can't buy Mature rated games as a minor, so you're probably safe.

If you're in Ireland in Gamestop, if you look young they won't let you buy a sixteen plus.

You're meant to be 18 to buy them, but in reality most employees at game shops don't care as they understand you're a gamer and just want to play Call of Duty or something.
When I go to GAME I just walk up there and ask for Skyrim, Call of Duty or some other game and they don't care, the only time I got asked was by the manager.

I found them quite annoying here actually, went in to buy GTA 4 once and got told to go away... also had one of my friends have to ask me to get a 16 when he was still 15, atleast here (Scotland) they seem to be quite strict with it
