I love motorcycles and plan on hoarding as many as possible one of these days. I rarely see bikes discussed here so I thought I should start a thread.

What is your dream bike?

~~~~~~~~~~~
My dream bike:
Aprilia RSV4 :wub:
http://dusejamoto.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/72635_10151425617154162_201278255_n.jpg I think top speed is near 164 MPH, or hitting close. And the 2013 version is on the market for $14,999.
The BMW HP2 Sport comes is a close second. :yeah:
Also, the Vyrus 989 3CV4 :wub:
Haha, they are amazing, though. I wish I had one. I want one for my 21st birthday so bad. I went with my dad the other day to a bike dealership and i was in heaven. He wants me to get one, so at least I don't have to worry about the whole "parental disapproval" aspect of it. XD
I can appreciate a BMW, but they're over-priced. Aprilia, Ducati, Kawasaki are all just as pleasing to the eye and cheaper. :yeah:
Right I remember I have some pics up in imgur. I'll post them this afternoon when I get into the computer.
He mounted a carbon fiber front fender as well as side optional race ones. It's A full equipe with ABS and TC. He also has a racing front fender with no headlights. That bike sounds amazing even with the stock exhaust.
Love motorbikes. 1 year and 3 months until I can legally ride on the road here!!
I would post my dirt bike but it seems this is a road bike thread :P
For dream bikes, I'd have to go:
Hayabusa with a turbo (just for that ridiculous power :P)
http://www.mobcustom.com/upload/photos/12108-hayabusa-turbo-v-tuning.jpg
Ducati 848 Evo Coarse SE
Ducati 1199 Panigale
As for realistic bikes that I will be able to ride in under 5 years:
Aprilia Shiver 750 GT
Suzuki Gladius (SFV650)
I'm not sure what it's like in the US, but currently they are pretty much going through putting ABS on the bikes, which is a load of **** IMO. Makes the bike more dangerous.
How can be putting abs in a bike a load of shit? It's not like you'll be braking into a corner and it will make you low side, more of the opposite way...
If you can control the clutch and starter well, it's not unheard of to start with a 600. You're going to get bored with a 300 and want an upgrade not long after you get it. :P
My god, those are amazing! :o That Hayabusa especially. I've always thought those looked bulky, but that one is so sick. :wub:
I thought ABS was much more safer and powerful than non-ABS brakes. :confused: They help with traction control and are more ideal than non-ABS brakes.
the 848 is nice, although if you fall with a Ducati, expect a high bill and be sure to call a Tow.
I'd say the 300 is fine to start, I have heard of motovloggers going with a 250 for pretty much 3 years, they seem to like it.
Puics of the S1000RR:
By all means, I don't expect everyone to agree with me about ABS, but I do have a question. I've been riding dirt bikes since I was in single digits, but by no means am I an extraordinary rider.
I agree that ABS is beneficial in conditions where the roads are wet and greasy (but who takes the bike out when its wet anyways? It's not exactly an ideal commute), however ABS does not work in bikes the same way it works in cars.
Bike ABS actually works by limiting braking power, making anyone who knows how to ride without ABS (aka not panic braking) able to slow down more efficiently by balancing the brake levers.
My question is: if and when (because if you ride a bike, expect to come off sooner or later), something goes wrong, say a car pulls out in front of you and you need to stop but don't have the distance, what is the first thing an experienced rider would do?
Knowing a few riders, coupled with the spills I've had on my dirt bike, I'd lock up the rears and lay the bike down - let it take the brunt of the accident whilst I slide to [hopefully] safety. With ABS, you'd slam on the brakes, not stop in time and hit the car head on, going over the bars. Failing that, you'd try and lie it down and end up being flicked off the bike.
I don't know, just personally I prefer the option of doing that, and riding dirt bikes I can never come across an instance where ABS would help me, or ever considered needing it. Granted, I've never ridden on the road, but to me it seems like a gimmick to make bikes more marketable to the general public by making them safer and 'easier to ride'.
As for a 300 for a beginner rider, indeed a smaller bike is easier to handle and control (and doesn't have the power, tempting you to do dangerous speeds), but another thing I've come across riding pillion on my dads bikes over the years and dirt biking, weight is a friend on a bike. Particularly commuting or riding highways. I'm sure anyone who's ridden (or been a pillion on) a light bike in the wind, or had a semi overtake them, will attest that lighter bikes get thrown around.
It's not ideal stopping at traffic lights or in traffic, but having weight behind the bike so it's stable is preferable in my opinion.
Just my $0.02 on riding, not saying that I am right, I am sure multiple people could legitimately argue my opinions.
My god, those are amazing! :o That Hayabusa especially. I've always thought those looked bulky, but that one is so sick.
I believe that Busa it has a custom extended swingarm, that's probably why it looks so slim. You're right, Hayabusa's are huge in person XD
Couple of my other favorites:
Kawasaki Z1000 is an awesome looking beast:
Always loved the Yamaha R1
And I hope I will still be riding when I am old enough to buy a cruiser and not look ridiculous:
Ahh, this black and red Buell Firebolt XB12R! They go for like 160 grand, though.
About the ABS, In the S1000RR you got the ABS Override switch just over the pass button, you can always hit it if you feel the need to lock up. It's just a press to save you :D
The R1 doesn't really appeal to me. I'd go for a ZX10-R rather than an R1 anytime, though I don't think that's my type of bike anyways.
