You know when girls say that they love each other, what do you girls mean by this? And do you think boys can say this?
Thanks.

I know what you mean i reckon boys can do it too. its just that not a lot do. And lots of boys have this sense to protect there masculinity because of the whole forbidden gay crap. Just kind of blurted that all out hope it made sense haha.

It's a slight double standard, although I don't see anything wrong with two boys saying "love you!" to each other for innocent reasons. :)

From a straight guys perspective, I don't know if it has anything to do with gay crap. I think we're more literal, so we don't say I love you unless we really mean it. I think guys show their affection more than they speak it. My closest friend wants to go do something I hate? I go and do it and not only do I not whine about it I really try to make the best of it so we both have a good time and I don't throw it in his face ever. Or if I'm struggling with something and he just starts helping without me asking. Or he needs to borrow something that I really, really like or it's important to me? I just say, sure take it and there isn't any warnings about taking care of it. If a close friend is short of cash for something we both want to do like the movies or needs $10 for something he's buying, and I have it, I just give him the money literally as fast as I can so he doesn't even have to ask and then I forget about it. If he pays me, he pays me, if he doesn't I don't care. If he's somewhere and I'm not around and people are ripping on me, he sticks up for me, doesn't pile on, doesn't tell me about it either, just does it. Eventually it might get back to me and if it does I'll tell him thanks for having my back.
Why do I do that kind of stuff? Cus I love that guy.
Actions vs words. Talk is cheap.
You want to see love in action? Love is selfless and not petty. Once in a great while, we might even say it to each other privately and it's really rare because we see it all the time, so we don't have to say it. It's just understood.
Thanks, Matt. I wish they would accept us for it, haha.
What do you mean by that? No clue.

I tell my brother and my best friend that I love them and they say the same to me.

teens usually say it because 'I like you' sounds more like 'lets go out' than 'I am passionate about you.'

I too agree it's more common and acceptable for two girl friends to say they love each other than it is for 2 guy friends to do the same though 2 male best friends tend to say more in private than openly.

GigglyAbby, got to agree. Boys have it frowned upon, as it isn't seen as "manly".

I have actually told my girlfriend that I love her. I mean we've been together for over 2 years. It was about time.

Here is the thing. You say I love you to your family, but is that romantic? No so, a really close friend might qualify. Probably not something I would say though...

I say love you sometimes to my male friends. Mostly with a lot of male stuff put into it, like, "Luv ya, bro/man/dude/etc."

I mean it when I say it. no matter who I say it to. If i tell my g/f's that Ilove them then I do. Idon't have sex with girls or guy for that matter and I have kissed girls on the lips and have thought absolutely nothing about it.

most guys wouldnt say it in fromt of others. close guy friends who label eachother as adopted brothers hypothetically might though.
