Make slow advances, set little goals for yourself like "today, I'm going to ask her about her day" or sit next to her in class or something, and if all else fails... buy her chocolate and get a friend to push you to her front door :P

I'm also a shy guy around girls, and that setting little goals thing works because you slowly become comfortable around her.

You should just take things slowly, but I should warn you: beware of guys who 'work' faster. Trust me, I've been through that just a few months ago
