hey this suggestion came to me while looking through the responses of my last failed suggestion, when you swear at someone, wrong room or generaly break vt rules after a warning you should have your post count deducted as after all it is hard to get it up and I think it will make people think twice

Why would it make people think twice?

Most people only care about their post count if they are under 100 and want to PM. If they care about it too much...they probably shouldn't be PM-ing anyways. Many people here have thousands of posts - why would a threat of a post deduction make them think twice?

We already have punishments called infractions. There isn't much need to start deducting post counts. Besides, post counts are completely meaningless unless you want to PM like Ali said above.

its the younger players that are doing it most and maybe take away percentages for example 1000 posts 25% = 750 left qnd repeating offenders will soon lose the right to pm

Absolutely, unequivocally, no. If members are cursing or swearing at one another and a mod sees it, the user will be warned, or infracted. If they rack up enough infractions, their account will be restricted, frozen, or banned. That's a fine "punishment," and that's how it will be staying. Deducting post count wouldn't stop them from doing anything, and would make the site look highly unorganized.

That's what infractions are for......why should post count even matter?

For most people, that would be like taking a penny from someone...

I think that's an unattractive, off-putting way to punish members. It seems pretty out there to me -- I do not support.

How would that solve anything?
