View Full Version : Late Period?

So in the past, my period has a history of being extremely inconsistent; however, recently, it's straightened out a bit (I came up to a normal weight, started eating normally, etc). That being said, my period is suddenly four days late. I've been pretty sick all week and extremely stressed out due to finals and $60,000 on the line. In any case, I'm obviously fairly concerned about pregnancy, though I don't have any other symptoms. My breasts are completely normal, I'm not tired, and I'm not sick or nauseous. Could my late period be due to my sickness and stress, since I don't have any other pregnancy symptoms?

Have you had unprotected sex?

It's probably just stress.

Once. Hence my concern.

I don't think four days is such a huge deal, but since you're already stressed, I can see how this would stress you out more.
Go talk to your doctor if you don't get it within the next couple of days, and maybe read this? That pretty much sums up a lot of the signs.

Also, maybe consider one of those early pregnancy detectors.

Thanks, everyone. I'm gonna give it a few more days and then take a test.

It's looks like you're a week late -- I'd consider getting a home pregnancy test and try to use when you get up [as pregnancy hormones can be more detectable during first urination] or try to find a clinic like Planned Parenthood -- local health department -- or a female clinic and go from there or if you choose just call your doctor as that saves you from having to take another test. Your stress and sickness itself could easily be delaying your period.

I did actually did a home pregnancy test today, and it was negative. I'm going to do another one. If I'm not pregnant, I'm just confused about what happened to my period. I'm not complaining, obviously, just a little concerned about it being this late for no apparent reason.

Sadly outside of pregnancy --diet & exercise changes [if started recently] as well as stress and feeling ill are typical reasons to delay a period.

Congrats on getting it today. You may want to keep an eye on the discharge and the length of it as well as any possible sickness as there's a slim possibility that what you got may be implantation bleeding rather than a period.

I'm 99.99999% sure it's not implantation bleeding...it's too heavy. And also, it feels like a period. But I will, just in case. Thank you!
