Dealing with Bipolar

My friend says he's bipolar. Now obviously, he can't help it. But I've done some stupid stuff to him, stuff I regret. He isn't exactly mr happiness. How can I deal with his random outbursts? How can I do my best to not get on his bad side?

Maybe let him know that in the long run you got his back. I think people with problems like that tend to think everyone hates them for it. You probably have a more valuable friendship with him because it's more of a challenge.
