In Bosnia, a terrorist group assasinated the Austro-Hungarian heir to the throne. Serbia was blamed, and the Austrians wanted to occupy it. Serbia refused, the Austrians declared war to Serbia. Imperial Russia, a ally of Serbia declared war to the Austrians, then the Germans declared war to Russia which caused France to declare war on Germany and the Austro-Hungarian empire. The Brits followed France afterwards.
