Well, people often make it wayyyy too unrealistic and use words that make me laugh, so it kinda is a turn off. I prefer reading T rated fanfiction of my favorite movie/series pairings and enjoy the thrill of the almost-intimate aspect of it. Being intimate either turns into extremely badly made smut or a once in a lifetime awesome read...of which I read like 1 or 2 of since there are sooo many bad writers :0
