I have recently started going to the gym and I haven't really got a routine apart from trying to go around all the weight lifting machines and doing a 20 minutes run. I would say I am average build, my body weight is 133 lbs, I am 5ft 9 and my body fat percentage is 13.6%. I am mostly looking to improve the look of my body before my holiday in 6 weeks (30th June) can anybody recommend a routine?

I do martial arts. I do push ups outside of the dojo and practice.

If you have any idea how workout routines works, go ahead and search the web that best fits for you. For example I was asking a lot of people about routines, and i heard a lot of opinions, but they were practically the same. When I got it right I felt that it was good for me. You have to feel.

Here's mine. I've stayed in shape doing this, and I've been doing it for about a year. But my body may behave different than your's, so don't rely on just what I say.

1: 4 sets of 25 pushups, alternating different methods of pushups(Normal, Diamonds, Wide, and Claps)

2: 3 sets of 50 situps, holding a 10 pound weight to your chest. It's better if you have something to lock your legs in place.

3: 5 minute jog, then 3 minute sprint. Repeat 5 times, with a 30 second walk in between.

4: Grab a lower weight medicine ball(I use 10 pound, but go ahead and do what feels best), and move the ball to one side of the floor, left to right, so that you begin to feel it working your abdominals. Do this for as long as you can.

5: Machines, whichever you have. I prefer to alternate on days, upper body on even days, lower on odd days.

6: Benching/Squating(Start off light, make your way up)

7: Finish with a light jog for about 5 minutes

*Note* Although it's not necessary, taking a protein shake before and after is advisable, if you are looking for muscle growth.

Hope it helps! :D

I can't really recommend a routine but a good thing to do is do a similar routine each time you go to the gym and monitor your progress see if you can run further in the same amount of time as before, see if you can lift heavier weights in the same amount of reps etc!

The thing is mate, especially since you're a teenager so your testosterone is through the roof, is to just LIFT heavy and eat alot of food with protein. For chest do bench press, for biceps and back do pull ups, for legs do squats, for triceps do close grip bench press, and thats it. You don't need to do any more exercises. You can workout three times a week. Monday : Chest/triceps, Wednesday : Biceps and back, Friday: legs

You'll get way bigger in 6 weeks, and if you keep working out you'll be a beast before college.

the lifts are good, but NEVER, EVER lift you max straight away. and stretch STRAIGHT AFTER each set. you'll thank me for that info, trust me. But lifting won't keep you in shape. you run, that good, but if you run for 20 minutes now, next week try for 30 and so on. If you do a sport stay in it.

Like myself, i can't run for shit, so i wrestle. works entire body out and keeps me in shape, plus then going to weight room twice a week helps me get stronger.

Don't stick to one routine and few exercises. You need to change some exercises every month and routins every 6 months.

1.Have a healthy diet
2.Go at gym regularly
3.If you can take magnesium and calcium
4.And 30 min running or more will be perfect

The bare minimum is, 4 sets of 20 push ups and a 20 min run with my bro. Outside of that it varies with lifting different sets of weights to work a different mussels. And about 20 minutes of stretching everyday too.

You're the exact same height and weight as me. Bit weird to be honest...

I try to find a good balance between working with weights and cardio workout to shape my body. Changing the routine regularly is important too :)
