should gays have the right to marry? I dont know about international laws but in the uk we have civil partnerships which gives the same sex couple every thing a normal couple would have just not the title. I agree with civil partnerships but not marriages because it would ruin the definition of a marriage

Why can't I have the same rights as you?

I do think everyone should have the right to marry whomever they'd like.

I think everyone should be able to marry whomever they want. Religion should not be a factor in marital laws. Why do you think that it "ruins" the definition of marriage?

that's untrue, In a civil partnership I would have automatic rights over my own child if my partner died and if my partner was in a coma then I would not be the automatic next of Kin. So there are differences
And even if your argument was correct it is simply not acceptable to be asked to pretend that this marriage is the same as a civil partnership. While marriage remains open to heterosexual couples only, offering the ‘consolation prize' of a civil partnership to lesbians and gay's demeaning, the argument of ‘separate but different' is wrong. And you still didn't answer the question. Why can't I have the same rights as you?

haha the perfect hallmark of an idiot, I can feel your anger in your words. Your probably the worst debater on this forum by far. You say the title doesn't matter despite the fact there are differences between them and you complained that your title would be ruined.
The system is Broken, I'm not allowed the same rights as you are.

Nope. I hate people that make this mistake in interpretations. Marriages DON'T NEED TO BE OF "HOLY" MATRIMONY!!!

i think gay marriage should be legal.
but if they want a religious marriage, i think the church should have a choice whether to.

Of course they should have the right to marry! They deserve the same rights as you and me. People should be able to marry whomever they'd like (as consenting adults, of course). The "ruin" of the "definition" of marriage is ridiculous.

I find the nature of this whole thread disgusting.
Of COURSE gay people should be allowed to get married. Every single argument against it is founded purely on bias and religious stance. In a democratic society, there's is NO room for bigotry and religion to get in the way of civil rights.

I absolutely agree. I have yet to find a non-religious and non-bias reason for gay marriage to be wrong. Not able to have children doesn't count, by the way.

The meaning of marriage. The meaning of marriage is just to sex one another up until you get sick of it and divorce each other nowadays. With divorce rates, don't tell me marriage has any real meaning left.
Should they be allowed to marry? Sure! Why the hell not? They can't pollute marriage any worse than we already have.

Yeah, because as we know, infertile and or old people can't get married since the whole point of marriage is to have children.
...Oh wait...
NO IT ISN'T.
