Please help!

So, I'm posting here for a friend. He's going through a lot right now, and is in a really tough spot. For the last two years or so, his brother has been having these violent breakdowns and freak outs, and lately its gotten worse. He's punched holes in the wall, thrown things at his mom, and picked fights with everyone in the house. He knows his brother belongs in some kind of hospital, but his mom, grandmom, and uncle won't get him any help, for whatever reason. It's a really toxic environment and he can't stand being there anymore, just waiting for his brother to flip out again. I told him he should call the cops and get them to send someone over. He doesn't think that'll do any good since at the moment his brother is asleep in his room and you're not supposed to call the cops unless something is actually happening, and it'll just make his family even more angry at him.

I don't know how to help him, and I don't know what to tell him to do. Anyone got any ideas on how to handle this? What do you think he should do?

I agree with you. He should talk with someone that can help to get his brother evaluated. His family might be pissed at him for it but in the end they will thank him. If he is the only one that's going to look out for his brother and his family then he has the responsibility of taking action, no matter how much it sucks.

Is it possible to negotiate a deal with you so that he can live with you for a while or maybe even at a relative's house for the time being, until things cool down/ get better?
