how does one go about asking a girl out?

im 17, kinda sky and ive never had a girlfriend. i wouldnt say a bad looking more average. im gonna say im smarter than average due to good grades, i also have an ok body, i workout alot. but well im shy as hell, dont know of any signs that tell me if 'she' likes me, or even how to ask 'her' out. should it be dinner? cinema? or what?

Start talking to her first, get to know some hobbies, find some common ground. That way if you get to go on a date or hang out with her, you'll have something to talk about. You could even base the date around that - if you both like the same music, see a concert. If you like video games, go to an arcade and dinner.

Small talk can go a long way!

^^^ Same here, bro. I couldn't even count the number of times my current crush has complained to me about her boy problems (and she doesn't even have a boyfriend!).

Thankfully I'm more focused on other things than getting myself stuck in a relationship.

I actually have never been in a relationship either but I think when I'm ready I would just wait till a comfortable, relaxing time -- maybe like when we're just hanging out, listening to music, sitting around at someone's house, wherever -- and flat out ask her... I'm so unromantic lol.

take her to a movie its the best thing for sure cuz u get to see a good movie and u dont got to talk to her all that much and like after the movie if u thnk she kind of likes u then u can go from there

That is a silly question, every girl is different.
I can ask one girl to go to starbucks, and another to head out to some botanical gardens. It really depends on what she means to you, how long you've known eachother, how many times you've been on dates, her hobbies.

Just be casual, for my one friend I just asked her "Hey can I come to your youth group with you?", and since she has her license we drove there together.
Another girl, just say "Hey I've got a few extra dollars, want to come to get a smoothie with me?"

It's very simple! She is just a girl.
