My sister is 17 and we rarely see each other, but last time I saw her I saw (from her wrists to the crease of her elbow) scars and fresh burns. The scars were left to right (or right to left) I need to know what I should do!!! (I'm going up to her house on the 17) :what: :help: please

bring your parents with you and talk to her about what's going on and calm down once
the talk is done everything should be fine

Did you talk to her about the scars last time you saw your sister? If not, are you sure it's self harm? I mean, if there were fresh burns, I can't imagine she would show them to everyone if she hurt herself on purpose..

Most self-harmers will keep it a secret for as long as they possibly can so first off you need to tell her it won't tell anyone else. I would try and make it so it was just you two alone and ask her about it, say you're worried about her and what you have seen on her arm. Suggest to her about seeing someone possibly to help her. Most importantly just reassure that you're there for her.

Don't bring your parents into it if she's no longer living at home. And I don't know if your sister feels like this but I don't see my future self having quit(if I make it there) because I just can't do it and it does so much. It helps a lot with my anxiety and stuff, not why I started but that's the only reason it helps now. I don't mean to give it a positive outlook . but what I'm saying is that its hard to stop especially if its helping you through something, so I would force her. Worry about why she does it, not the fact that she does it because she'll be more likely to stop if whatever made her start isn't causing her emotional pain anymore.
