What is a friend? I have many "friends", but I still feel alone. What is a real friend like? How do they make you feel? How much should you trust them? What signs are there that they're aren't a true friend.

a simple friend could be anyone that you love, i conider everyone my friend.
but a true good friend, someone who has a good relationship with you, should have absolute trust in you. trust is what friendship is based off of, without trust, you cannot have a real friend.

a friend is someone you trust, feel that you can be yourself and say what ever and speak to about anything

A real friend is someone who's there with you on highs and lows. A friend is someone who will come over and play Halo with you after you broke up with your girlfriend. A friend is someone who kill the zombie clawing your body, and put you out of your misery when you turn. I have no friends.

I consider very few people my friend. I used to consider everyone I talked to was automaticly my friend. And that was stupid of me.
I think a real friend is someone who is there for you when you need them.

Any acquaintance of yours that you enjoy the company of is your friend.
True friends are much more special however. They are the people you can trust to give you good advice and to listen to your problems without judgement. They accept you for who you are - warts and all, and love you even more for your faults. True, best, friends are the people who you can go to while upset and you know within the next half hour they'll have a stash of chocolate and alcohol (if you're over eighteen) for you to consume. They'll appreciate your quirks and will tease you to hell and high water about them because they know you know they're joking and they love you dearly for it.
However, it's perfectly okay to be surrounded by friends and to feel alone now and again. I live in a room next to my best friend and still feel lonely sometimes. It's called life. And she's the comes-around-once-in-your-life, together-until-death kind of friend.

my friends hear my secrets and don't tell, my dreams and don't laugh. they let me be happy or sad, hold me when I need to cry and love me for who I am, as I do them.

Simple, someone who believes in you, and is there when needed, etc.

A friend is someone who is there when you need someone, who trusts you, respects your feelings or beliefs, someone you can tell your secrets to.

I don't believe this at all. Everyone has their own problems and ways of dealing with them.
Just because you feel lonely doesn't mean others are not your friend. Maybe they have trouble expressing it, or they are having difficulties elsewhere.

Doesn't matter otherwise, because I don't have any friends, and that isn't gonna change anytime soon.

I know how you feel Shyy_Guii. There's a few kids at school who let me hang around them, but I'm pretty sure if I suddenly disappeared they wouldn't really notice.

awww you guys shouldn't say that about yourselves just stay positive, no one will want to be friends with someone hating them selves, be confidante and approach people, have a laugh and joke and dont be rude or negative

You're lucky, you can still be optimistic. I've tried that so many times, and trying only makes it worse.
I don't want to try. Trying only makes it worse, because nobody even notices I'm trying. Nobody notices I'm there.
I'm just that thing that's taking up space for someone more important.

To me what a friend is a person or animal that you feel great being around and you always want them near you, they are there when you feel depressed or angry and you feel you can tell them anything, of course they are not always going to be there thats why humans try to get alot of friends

A good friend is something you can rely on, Someone who will be there for you when you need them, someone who cares about you, someone who will stand next to you in important years to come.
