This is the first movement from Tchaikovsky's "Serenade for Strings". It's not blitz fast. It's quite exquisite actually. A very passionate piece of music, this one really sticks with you. It's so worth the time.
This "Andante non Troppo" movement is full of passion, longing, excitement, tenderness, and intensity. This piece means so much to me. It screams wedding music :)

Well, if I'm being honest, I had an original melody stuck in my head all throughout my closing shift at Dairy Queen tonight. I just got home a few hours ago and have been composing while I have the image still in my head. ;)

But,
While I was researching some different things about meter and rhythm, I came across these hummers:

They are two piano toccatas written by George Antheil and I absolutely love them. Very avant-garde in construction, he does some excellent things with harmony and rhythm. Tonality and melody are nearly abandoned, and these pieces work very well. They stick with you long after the last note is played!
(I prefer the 1st one, but that's my preference...)
