So I have what's called a "jew fro," if you're familiar with the term. This means that my hair is really curly and frizzy, but I was wondering if there's a way I could straighten it so that it looks good and not like it's fake. Are there good enough straighteners out there to do this?

well, hi. I have the same problem. I had my hair straightened permenently..they did all the things they do and I was told not to wash my hair for FIVE DAYS!!!!!!! and when I did, it came on its natural curly shape...so, it pretty bad lol
I think that the best way is to blow dry it,when you just come out of the shower, using one of these:

(I suppose you have an idea how to use it)
VERY VERY VERY carefully,in small pieces.
Good hair straighteners are Broun ones(from the cheaper brands). I have one and my mum has an older one and they are both pretty great. :)
P.S. I believe that the blow-dry part is much more important than the actual straightening,so better take your time with it.
Good luck xx

Cut it....all of it.my friend he also had a Jew Fro (he's a Jew) and when he cut it short short it looked LOTS better. Straightening makes it look long

Cut it, you will look much better if you cut it David Beckham style quite shortly, believe me I also have a jew fro and after cutting it everyone tells me I look much better.

Thanks, everyone! I think I'll just cut it. It's summer anyways, and who wants long hair in summer?

If you ever decide to grow your hair longer, I have really curly hair with tight curls that come from being a mixed female. It's hell sometimes.
I have found that getting a good CHI flat iron (I have one of the "fashion" ones, as well as a plain black one), and a good brand of blow dryer (I don't remember what mine is), will definitely help you.
Separate your hair into small sections, comb it out with a fine-tooth comb, and blow dry each section. When you're done, section it off again, comb each section thoroughly with a fine-tooth comb, and flat iron each section until you feel it is straight.
From then on, make sure you wear a shower-cap or such when you shower, tie your hair back if you plan on getting really sweaty, and brush your hair really well every day.
Personally, I don't flat iron my hair every day(with the exception of my bangs) because I keep it in a bun or ponytail at the base of my neck, but you can if you want. Make sure you have some kind of thermal protection though.

Why would you want to do that, curly hair can look really cute.

I find that if I don't wash my hair that often, it loses it's frizzy and poofiness. Then, I just straighten it all, and it turns into a poofed straightened style.
Tips: Hair spray. Lots of hair spray.

There are cosmetics, which help in straightening hair, maybe try them at first?
