I know that if I want to make friends I have to talk to people. I can't keep expecting them to come to me. I struggle a lot with knowing what to say and how to keep a conversation going and I've been working on that. But that's not even the hardest part.
I know there are a lot of friendly people at my school and sure I'd like to talk to them. But every time I see them in the hallway at school, they're always with one of their friends, or 3 or 4 of them. I don't feel right just popping up and interrupting them. And when I say always, I mean always. They walk to school together. They walk home together. They eat lunch together. They walk to their classes together. Sometimes, I feel like it's a conspiracy. I mean holy crap, I can't even remember the last time I saw some of them alone.
Even the kid I talk to in Photo class all the time (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=166309). We might be friends and all, but we never talk outside of that one class. I'd like to, and I don't think he'd mind if we did, but I just can't because he's never alone.
How do I deal with this? It's not fair. To make friends I have to talk to other kids, but everyone else already has friends so there's no chance to talk to them. Why can't this be easy? It just seems so simple for everyone else.
