I currently have the iPhone4s. Is it worth paying so much money for an iPhone 5? Why or why not?

No
Two reasons:
1. The iPhone 5s or iPhone 6 is about to be announced sometime within the next couple months or so.
2. IPhones are always going to be on the lesser end of phones.
If I were you, I'd jump on the android bandwagon with a Galaxy S4 or an HTC one.
Both are INCREDIBLE masterpeices that I'd take over an iPhone any day!
A lot of people don't consider android because it used to be an unstable, buggy platform.
But in the past year, it has changed drastically. It has become an incredible operating system that I have had the privilege to use and work with for the past year. :)
You should check out those two phones to see if you like them. Watch some videos, and learn about them. You won't be disappointed! :)

I'd say no and go for the Galaxy S4, as suggested above. I have the S2 and have no problems with it so I'm sure that the S4 is better. I've never liked Apple products, anyway.

It really ain't worth it.
Apple is nowhere near as advanced as Android. AND Apple is making a new iPhone anyway in the next coming months.
I'd suggest a Galaxy S4 for you, OR if you don't have as much money, get a Galaxy S3, it'll be way cheaper, especially with the S4 that just came out.
I never really liked iPhones or understood the hype about them anyway, they're too basic, plain and uncustomizable for my taste.

It depends on if your happy with your 4S.... yes the 5 is better but it depends on what you want and if you want to pay money now for it. If I were you I would wait for the next release 6 or 5S and then you can choose or if you wanted either of them or a cheaper option would be the 5 then.
The other advantage with staying with apple is you can transfer your apps to the new phone.

If you want a piece of monkey shit, wrapped in aluminum, and polished to shine, then yes.
If you want a fairly durable, uniquely customizable cell phone that offers fun and convenient gadgets that don't require any extra plug ins (Last time I checked, the iPhone still requires a separate attachment and an app to use the radio, while most Android devices only require earbuds), while offering a superior communication experience, I recommend a Samsung Galaxy or an HTC.

I don't see how apple products are better than other companies. Samsung Galuxies are pretty good.

I think Apple aren't really changing their phones enough for me to buy a new one.
I used a Samsung Galaxy Note II before, and they're really nice.

If you have massive hands, the galaxy notes are great! :D
But there's rumor that the Note 3 will be announced soon. I would wait and get that over the note 2 probably.

I don't like apple products, but that doesn't make me bias in them.
The iPhone 5 IMO is just a more polished iPhone 4S. There isn't much of a change apart that it became longer and thats just about it. I don't see any actual design updates on it. Its still got the basic block iPhone design I despise so much, and the OS. OMG, if I want to download the drawing app, I first need to buy a stylus, whereas the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Note Tab are brilliant, come equipped with a drawing app, and also comes with the Stylus.
I currently use a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. And I am absolutely inlove with the phone.
I'd rather wait till the iPhone 6 or 5S comes out to see if Apple actually made something to wow the crowd, or if they'll just lose more and more users for the phone market.

If it's apple, it ain't worth it. I have a Iphone 3GS that I now regret. I'd never get one of those even free anymore.
I suggest Galaxy s4. I had an s2 when they'd just came out (only a year and a half ago)
IT WAS AMAZING :D

I have a Galaxy S4, it's my first android phone. All of my other devices have been apple products. Honestly, it's really just a preference. The interfaces of each device is completely different, so you really can't compare the ui.
Obviously android's offer more customization features, however iPhone's are always superior when it comes to multitasking on the device. The Galaxy S4 has better hardware than the iPhone 5. It also has faster upload + download speeds.
If you have the option between the two I would personally have to recommend the S4. But once again, it's all opinion. Go with what works best for you.

Well I recently switched from a Blackberry to an iPhone 5 and because I have never had an apple phone before, I love it. Its simple, thin, light and beautifully designed!
Compared to the iPhone 4s they are much and such the same except lighter and slightly larger, it all depends on the amount you have to spend.
My contract is only £28 a month and the phone itself was free and I have unlimited texts, internet and 500 minutes! Great price if you ask me!
