My friend's suspicious

So today my friends and I were having a conversation that somehow turned to being about cutting. I don't cut, but I have made my wrist bleed before. Anyways, I tried to pretend like nothing was wrong when they brought up cutting by not saying anything, but I think one of my friends caught me looking down at my wrist. What should I do? Should I tell them about it or no?

If your friends are good friends that are trustworthy, you should tell them if you're comfortable.

I don't understand this at all. Why would you keep it quiet? Wouldn't it be best to talk about it? Wouldn't you get more support if more people knew?
