So my friend has a PS2 and we're having some problems with it. As soon as it's turned on the Blue Eject light will begin to blink and it'll Eject the Disc Tray, commanding it to go back in will cause it to do the same thing, until you've put the tray back in a third time, in which the Power light will stay Green but the Eject light will simply turn off. We've made sure the tray is on track and properly attached. Any way to fix this issue?

Ejection problem is usually on the Fat one. I think it needs some cleaning.

Sorry. I thought I included that it was the PS2 Fat.
We've cleaned everything on it, and it still does it.

On it, or in it? The door needs cleaning. If that's not it, then it is a power circuit that's burned out.

Sounds like a magnetic mechanism problem. The ps2 consists of a small magnet that holds the cd in place. Also, a rather loose cog that ejects the drive. It may be a good idea to take this to a specialist and have it opened up. I've opened mine a lot and I've had a problem similar to this one.

The light turning off could be due to a loose power ribbon. That's also an internal issue. A lot of ps2 components can become loose over time due to the way Sony has put it together. If you get it checked out, you can get many of the components fixed into place.

There also is the possibility that the connection between the magnet recognizing a disc and the sensor opposite that isn't connected fully into the motherboard, not being able to recognize the disc and start the game/DVD. Another problem that should be checked out through inspection.

So yeah I've had the same problem on the exact same device. Either the power circuits broke or the tray and insides need cleaned. Which I'm sure you or your friend don't want to take it apart. So as saîd above take it to a professional.

SIR DID YOU TRY TURNING IT OFF AND ON AGAIN

:P Nah, just kidding. Sometimes a well-placed whack can solve it, otherwise have it repaired. Alternatively, if your warranty has expired and you're sure you know what you're doing, you could try opening it yourself. Probably as simple as pressing a few connectors back on to their pins.

That's the word I have been looking for. The cog is loose and perhaps dusty and needs cleaning, and the power connector is what causes the light to flicker on and off.

I suggest that you do not open it. There are workshops and enthusiasts who still fix those devices.

I got my psone cleaned by someone not too long ago. My PS2 needs cleaning as well. XD

Weird, I have the same issue with my main Primary CD drive on my computer, anyway, try cleaning out the tray, or if you have a hole for the CD drive you can try sticking a paperclip in to eject disks.
