hey, so I recently went for a swim at my local gym that was newly built, I went into the guy's locker room, and as I changed and headed to the shower area, there was a sign that said something along the lines of "No articles of clothing in showers and sauna" or something. Does that mean I have to go naked and take off even my underwear in the shower? I mean, I saw a few other dudes around my age butt naked with their junk and everything showing, but I'm nervous to do that.

I was nervous the first few times too... but you get used to it. I find it helps to think about having a shower at home... block out the thought that you're in a communal shower and just get on with it :)

I mean, it's kinda strange to me though. I've always been taught that nudity should be hidden, u know, like even in washrooms they have dividers between urinals. So how come showers are so open? And what about women's showers, i heard they get to have individual ones?

It varies from place to place... My local gym actually doesnt have communal showers; theyre all individual cubicles. I dont think theres any reason behind it though.


As for womens showers... I have no idea :/

I think that after showering with other guys, you will start to grow more comfortable. Also nudity isn't something that should be extremely hidden. There is a time and a place for everything. Here is just one place being naked is fine

Okay, so, I suppose I understand the Sauna, cause it takes a lot out of you, now, while I believe that the whole point of having a shower is to be completely naked, I don't understand why it is the rule to be completely naked in the shower. Like, they won't make you take your clothes off, would they? (I mean, I think it is pointless if you don't, but still)

All boys have the same parts. Of course you strip naked and take a shower. It would seen stupid to go in the shower with clothes on.

I go to the YMCA lots. Everyone showers naked. I think it would be weird to wear anything in the shower.

After a while it will become pretty normal dude. Just have to take that first step and do it for the first time. It worked for me, now i am comfortable doing it pretty much all the time.

Never heard of showering in underwear, lol. if u don't wanna be naked, wear swim trunks/speedos, if there's a swim pool in your rec center

Well, if it helps, you could try to go at times when there isn't anyone, just to get used to it. and when you're comfortable with being naked in the shower alone, you can star going at more busy times. Slowly but surely you'll get used to it.
PD: if it's still hard you can always cover yourself a bit with a shampoo or gel bottle :)

At the gym I go to we do the same thing but you can bring clothes to change into also.

I think wearing any clothes in the shower is silly but at the beach some boys shower in their suits which is different than underwear. me and my friends shower naked just like we do at home.
