One thing I wish I had realized at 13; be nice, be understanding, but do NOT be shy. Make yourself stand out, even if you're just her buddy. It's a healthy thing to practice!

I'd wait. As said before, you know a girl really likes you when she likes it when you're just being you. If you change for a girl, you'll be leading a double life in one sense, because around her, you'll be the fake you. When you are anywhere else you are the real you. No one likes a double life. Don't change you, but wait for the right girl.

Thanks for all your answers you guys! A good few are saying like "be yourself" , so I'm starting to get the point. Trying to act the big man to impress a girl wud b phoney n no good. (Couldnt work for me anyway cos of how i look). Does it mean girls just prefer us to b like "sincere" n are not so worried what we look like? That doesn't sound so hard.

Girls don't like any one specific thing, it all matters. Don't over-think it, that is by far the biggest mistake you can possible make! Thinking her kindness is anything more than kindness is silly, and just because she cancels getting a coffee doesn't mean she hates you, it means she was busy.

Treat her like you would a girl who you don't like, but be extra nice.

Also be confident in your self. Don't be a douche, but you have to realize: You can get any woman out there in the right circumstances, never let one woman be the center of your attention unless you're the center of hers because that is an amazing thing that can't be one-sided.

In my personal opinion? Listen to the small things she says. Did she tell you she liked this one specific coffee place that she hasn't been to in awhile? Offer to take her there. Did she mention a movie she's been just dying to see? Take her there! Don't be generic, and treat her like you want to be treated.

Bah, I'm rambling now. :) In my opinion, 13 year old girls just want some one to be happy with and not worry about all the bullcrap about sex and gossip.
