How can I tell if he wants to be friends or more?

I have kind of been friends with this guy for about 4 years due to a mutual activity. At the time, he seemed more concerned with the activity than getting to know me, which was fine. He was a bit closer friends with my brother anyways.

At the end of last school year, the activity stopped, and we didn't see each other anymore. A few months back, we randomly started conversing sporadically on Facebook. The past two weeks or so, we have been talking a lot more (as in 2-3 times a week, usually over an hour). I thought it was a little strange that he has been talking to me rather than my brother, and hasn't even asked about him.

I guess the gist of the situation is, I can't tell if he likes me or if he just sees me as a friend. He has always been a jokester, so it's hard to base it off that. What are some things I should look for as to whether he sees me as just a friend or a potential girlfriend?

For guys there's a big difference between "potential girlfriend" and "someone I want to go out with" but the fact that he talks to u that often is a pretty big clue that he's interested in u. Even if he isn't he will flattered if u try and take it to the next level.

Hmmm, I say pretty soon he'll really be liking you, if not now! You'll really know if the guy starts acting a little stranger than usual! It won't be huge though since they don't want it to be noticeable! Or at least that's with me! But if you feel like he wants to be your boyfriend and you like him too, open up about relationships so he kinda gets the notion saying, okay I can go after you!

Thanks for the replies! We have established that we are both single, and he mentioned trying to restart the activity over the summer. I think those are both definitely positive signs.
