How do I talk to her?

Well I'm starting to talk to a girl that I would like to know better and I feel like I always say the wrong thing. I need some advice on well, what to say to start and maintain a conversation over the phone or just texting.

Only think of her as a friend, that's the most important thing... And try and find a question about every message you recieve, for example, if you ask what she's up to, and she says watching a film, ask her if she likes the film, who shes watching it with, etc.
