Medical Cert, Panicking!!

I'm in first year college UCC and missed an important fieldtrip due to illness three weeks ago. However, I completely forgot about getting a medical cert and recently got asked for it. I don't know what the hell to do, I'm panicking to the point where I cut again for the first time in over two years. I need to pass the module to pass the year which I can't afford to repeat. Can a med cert only be issued at the time, when you're sick?
Please help me with what to do!

Most schools require a doctors note within ___ days of missing whatever. My school for example requires it within 3 days. Talk to the teacher/the school and see what they say - every school is different

Edit; however, if you recently got asked for it as you said, that leads me to think that it is not to late to hand one in, in which case you should do it ASAP.

My issue with it isn't handing it in. I don't have one because it completely slipped my mind to go to the doctor. I don't suppose if I go to the doctor now, so late and perfectly healthy, they'd give me one?

Did you see the doctor when you were sick? If you did, they should have a record of it and you should be able to get one. If you didn't, I suppose you could go to them and ask, however it's unlikely they'd give you one unless you had proof of being sick.

No, I didn't, this is the problem. I had a fairly bad stomach bug, enough to force me to stay in bed but getting a med. cert. didn't even occur to me and I wasn't bad enough to need a doctor. All I thought about was how miserable I was feeling.

Oh damn, Just go to your teacher and tell them what has happened, im sure they will be a little lenient?
