Why do you think there have been so many school shootings in the last few years?

Because that's the way life is. Humans are evil, it will always be around. Society sure isn't helping either
Great debate.

The amount of media coverage they get I believe influences them to commit these acts. Basically, they(The Shooters) say to themselves, "Why just go kill myself and gain no attention, instead of going out and shooting some random civilians and have the whole nation's attention?" It's sick, and it's disturbing to see how violent our culture is.

Bad people in your perspective, but in theirs they might be doing justice, who knows, maybe they just want to prove something, they just exaggerate it. Plus, gringos make guns so accessible to the people that getting a few is easier than in any other place. I just believe press exaggerates about the shootings, long live population control.

School shootings aren't a new thing - they're just covered more now by the media.
I believe the easy accessibility to guns in this country greatly contributes to the number of school shootings. Adam Lanza, for example, would likely not have killed over twenty people if there hadn't been an easily accessible gun in his house.

Mass killings have actually declined. The media blows it up for ratings.

I think it's terrible how many school shootings have gone on, you guys really need to sort it out and control gun flow, introduce gun licenses

because of to many firearms avalible and primarily because the sistem is wrong such tragedies wouldent happen if we fundamentaly change the sistem we all (the entire world) live in

I think it's because history repeats itself. If we don't try and correct ourselves the first time, it will continue to occur more and more until we solve the problem.

Yeah. I think a lot of them want to be famous and well known, in their schools they may be bullied and are crying for attention in a way. They obviously want to get revenge and have access to guns... so it makes it all easier to get revenge.

Because everyone, including mentally unstable people in this country can have a private arsenal at home.
And I absolutely agree with what Austin said. People who think they're invisible commit these slaughters to get attention.

On this topic, I think the "mentally ill people shouldn't be able to get guns, it's the mentally ill people's fault" is horribly detrimental to mentally ill people.
"Mentally ill people" come in a spectrum. Many people are mentally ill, but control their illness and are functional. Every year, about a quarter of Americans suffer from mental illnesses. Very few of these people are violent individuals who would perpetrate a school shooting. The shootings-are-the-fault-of-mentally-ill-people viewpoint stigmatizes and marginalizes those with mental illnesses.

People are evil yes. But if you look at the mental stability of the past school shootings they have all suffered from mental distress.

When someone starts it, someone always comes along and thinks, "Well hell, I can do better than that guy, and not get caught!" and then they act out their intentions. Then they always end up blowing the back of their head out.

All of these multiple school shootings happen because nobody cares about what goes on in people lives on a daily basis. Nobody cares until bam bam bam.
Then it becomes a media frenzy and the entire nation going HOW IN THE WORLD DID THIS HAPPEN? and the regular debates on gun laws and blah blah blah. Then it ends. That's that and nobody bothers to look at their school systems and in the homes of people that are bordering the danger zone. They don't care about the bullying and they definitely don't care about the kids that go up to the administration and probably beg for help constantly so what happens then... BAM BAM BAM We as a society will never care enough and NOTHING will ever change that.

Raised on bad standards. Plus, you are wrong. Homicide has actually gone DOWN. I remember a time (actually only about 3 or 4 years ago ago) The news was full of drunk driving accidents. It still happens, but not as often as the VERY END of LAST decade.

More shootings? According to the FBI, homocide is going down. (http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8)
The most common explanations are too strict/too lenient gun control policies and mental health issues.
Mental health has no place, because the overwhelming number of murders are caused by brief anger/rage, and mental health has little to do with anything. Adam Lanza is known for having had mental health issues, but nobody's actually mentioned what he had. It is SID, Sensory Integration Disorder, a disorder than is not included in the DSM, PDM, or WHO nosology. Many clinicians see it not as a disorder, but a dysfunction (merely an abnormal trait/symptom). Moreover, mental health runs on spectrums, a person is not "mentally healthy" or "mentally unhealthy". For personality disorders the PDM classifies things at a "healthy", a "neurotic", and a "borderline" level for each disorder. Imagine a person has a disorder, but at a healthy, functioning level. How would law differentiate?
About gun control, which is a very controversial topic, nothing is as clear cut as we want it to be. Earlier I showed you statistics that murder rates are decreasing even as the NRA wins court battles, and statistics from other countries and time periods are consistent. However, other statistics appear to be outright contradictory. This has led me personally to believe that other social and cultural factors are more important than gun control. However, I do admit I could have not enough information, I could be overlooking something, ect.
