I want a thin, fast laptop with an HDMI port. That doesn't cost a shit ton of money and isn't an apple any suggestions?

Acer Aspire V5-471P-6840 Notebook with Windows 8. Its only like 629.99 dollars. (pretty cheap compared to the other versions going into the thousands.)
Acer makes great computers and laptops. iv never had a problem with an acer.
But if you need cheaper then Acer C7 Chromebook is like 200$

Just Stay away from Compaq.they have one huge overheating problem causing my charger to melt 3 times. I heard Toshiba is reasonable and pretty good depending on what version of laptop you get

Asus Vivobook S400.

Thin, light, fairly powerful, brilliant build quality, has a good touchscreen (Which in my opinion is a must for Win 8), and very nice looking with a low price.
I would not recommend the Acer Aspire V5, my dad has one and the build quality is pretty bad. I don't know what type of prices you would get for the Asus Vivobook S400 wherever you are, but search around and I am sure you will find a good price.

Not bad price with an I7 for super fast, 4gb Ram.
No touch screen cause that's unnecessary for a laptop that needs to be light.
500gb Hard drive.

Although with Win8, I find that it is extremely hard to navigate without a touch screen.

This is true Windows 8 is really designed for a touch screen device but the fact that he wants a thin and light one means that you really shouldn't get the touch screen as you could get much more performance rather than it.

I went with a Lenovo G570, but the Y580 is good aswell. Not really a thin thin laptop like Macbook Pro or Air, but its relatively thinner than some laptops. And Lenovo is pretty damn good. I love my Lenovo lol, I'd trade in a Dell or Acer or MACbook in for a Lenovo any day :3

Although, I would trade my Lenovo in for an Alienware M18X any time, no sweat for it XD

I have the Acer Aspire 6530. It's my kind of laptop.
If you can find one, they're around £400-500 but are very cheap for what you get.
I've had this laptop for 3 years and have had no problems, it still runs everything great and has great sound.

Decent and cheap. And yes, it has an HDMI port.

HP Pavilion is a great way to go if you ask me. Great computers for general purpose. Can run games pretty well if you want, can run almost any software you throw at it.

The Toshiba Satellite sometimes has an HDMI port. They seem to alternate between putting it in and leaving it out every update. The first one my dad bought had an HDMI port, the second one he bought didn't. After that I bought one and it did.

I use a Lenovo, and I can't really complain. ASUS, Sony and Samsung are great too.

Did you not see the bit about "Not costing tonnes of money" and "Being light" Alienware is neither of those things, Also HP laptops are pieces of shit, They overheat and are just terrible machines.

I'd hardly say HP laptops are horrible.. my aunt has had one for four years and no problems.

What about the ASUS zen book?
The Asus Zenbook series is a flagship line, so they tend to be quite expensive. No touchscreen either. Definitely go for something with a touchscreen.

But I don't want a touch screen. Yes I've seen the prices. They cost a little less then my XDM to 460 Rowland project.

Well, considering you don't want a touch screen and you are okay with the price, I would say that any of the Zenbooks are good choices. Thin, light and powerful. And because they are bevelled to what is almost a point at the front, you can decapitate people with them xD

And how many of them use the computer like they should, and take care of it like they should?
