One of my closest friends is being beat, by her dad. idk what to do about it, I told her that she should get emancipated because shes 16 right now, turning seventeen in five months. But, it turns out, that there is no way to be emancipated in NY. Goddamn government. I'm literately waiting for her to fall apart, because, things have been only getting worse at her house.
I also told her to think about calling child services and report her dad so she gets taken away. I'm not the only person that knows, two others know as well, and, she has bruises, so, she can prove shes been hurt. The thing is, we don't know where shell go. If shell stay in the same district, or even same part of long island.
Ive tried talking to a guidance counselor at my school, but, the second i mentioned abuse they asked for my name. I ran, cause, i don't want shit started with my family, for trying to help out my homie.
idk why im even writing this, i guess, to find out what I should do for her. Ive told her her dad gets too outta hand to hit me up, and id beat the shit outta that bitch that calls himself a man.
But neither of us wanna wait untill that happens.
What should I do?

Make sure you're there for her, always. When things get bad, take her somewhere alnoe (if you can) for a few hours and talk about whatever she wants to talk about. Ask her what she wants to do.

Child abuse is absolutely NOT something for YOU to handle on your own. You have to realize that even if you guys get seperated, it doesn't matter where she ends up as long as she's out of that environment. Would you rather have her further away from you and not see her as much, or have her be forced to live with her abusive father until he gets out of control and REALLY hurts her? I've heard of domestic violence cases where the abuser lost control and went so far as to kill someone. You do NOT want that to happen so you need to tell someone NOW.

I agree with Valerie, you can't handle this alone, this is a very serious situation you need to get help.

True, true. You do need help. Professional help. It's hard, I know, but you need it.

Im not the only one trying to help her, two of her other friends are, but, no offence to anyone, theyre both girls, so when ever the topic come us, they start getting all cry-ey, and getting in the way of actually solving the problem.
on monday, imma go back to the counceler, and talk to them, without giving my name. Idk if theyll talk to me, but, imma try anyway, hopefully they have some damn morals

That's probably the worst advice you could possibly give in this situation.

So, what's the problem with giving your name? They're guidance counsellors, not Tony Soprano! They're there to help. If they need your name to move forward, then 1) tell your folks about this, tell them what you want to do and what's required, get their consent and involvement, and 2) tell the guidance people what they need to know to help your friend!
If you're convinced she's at risk here, that you take the threat seriously, it sounds like you really need to tell someone in authority whatever they need to know to help your friend.

Yes if you think that she could get hurt. you NEED to tell someone. and if helping your friend requires her moving farther away. that's much better than the alternative!

Oh god, please, please dont go on with this, Ive almost been through the same thing, give her your # and email, and anything else you can and call the child services, would you rather wait? really think, would you rather watch her get beaten and hurt, or would you rather get her somewhere safe knowing how much you helped?

1. Call child protective services
2. Tell them about whats happening
3. Let them do the rest
4. Fell better.
