View Full Version : I think my friend cuts?

Ok, so there is a girl at my Uni who I have been talking to for a while now. I would like to think we are friends, we aren't overly close, not sure what she thinks our friend status is. We are both the socially awkward type person and I don't want to scare her away. But I noticed, on her wrist, marks that look like self-harming. Her arms were kind-of hidden, so I am not overly sure.
Self-harming is something I have done myself. Do I say something to her? I want her to know I am always her if she wants to talk, I've said she can come over to mine whenever she wants too. Do I say more? Do I ask about her arms? I don't want to say something wrong and make it worse.
Any advice?

My advice would simply be to let her know that you're there for her if she needs someone. I went through years of cutting, and being asked directly about it was awkward.
Don't be pushy, or overbearing. A simple kind gesture can mean a lot to someone in need.

I would absolutely hate it next year if someone brings up my scars and stuff, I think you should slip in your past in a way she'll notice so then she knows you understand and you're around to chat I wouldn't bring up anything to do with what you think you've seen I think it might only embarrass her or push her away I could be wrong but I personally wouldn't like to risk it.
