well I like 99% of people on here have had a few posts deleted but they never tell you why so I'm left guessing:/

I know i had to find the mod that deleted my post in order to ask why it was deleted
it would be nice for like a little system to tell you

If your post is deleted, you can be assured there was a good reason why. For example, posts that are completely off topic, duplicates, or inappropriate are deleted (mods can still see them, though). If you posted something really inappropriate, you will receive a PM explaining why. I see no reason why members need to see reasons for all their deleted posts, nor do I think it's possible to do with vB, anyway

If you don't see a post that you saw before, there's your clue not to post something like it again ;)
Mods really don't have the time to PM every member about each deleted post. We do have lives :P

haha I know stopping time but you could get confused on which part got it deleted could you set it up so it shows what mod or admin deleted it so if unsure you could mail them?

No, we really can't.
If you have a pressing question about an individual issue, PM a mod rather than making a whole thread.

If you post shit it gets deleted! I've been here nearly 3 years and never had a post deleted. Don't post shit it won't get deleted! Mods don't have time to tell you your posting like a bellend so deal with it!

Mods should at least make a conceited effort to contact the user if their post got deleted. If it was against the rules then mods have a protocol for unofficial warnings, official warnings, infractions, etc. If you're deleting a a bunch of off-topic posts in a thread it wouldn't be asking too much to just post and day "Off-topic posts removed."

I think it's common courtesy to try to make an effort to PM or otherwise notify people whose posts are removed with a quick and simple explanation. It would also help for the future...
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Remove one post, and the one mistake is fixed. Explain to the user why their post was removed, and the mistake hopefully won't be made again.
Yes, I realize it's a demanding task, but wouldn't it be more demanding to have to remove even more posts because users don't realize that they're repeatedly violating rules?
I see it both as a proactive and preventative measure and a thoughtful courtesy, but that might be just me. Like I said, I also realize it's a demanding task, and I don't know what resources VT has available to handle it, so it's very well not in my place to really say what the staff should and shouldn't be doing.

Most of the time when I delete something I will send the person a private message. However if it was an off topic comment or something small like someone did a "makes no sense" spam post then yeah I probably won't send you a PM about it because it is minor. To add to this if its a duplicate thread or duplicate post then I'll delete it and unless you've spammed multiple forums with it then I won't PM you.
To conclude, if its really minor then I won't send you a PM. If its worth an unofficial warning then yeah I'll send you a PM over it.

Well, the staff can see why -- we fill in the "Delete reason" on a post/thread when we delete it.
Basically, if your post violates the rules somehow, then I'll usually delete it and send you a message explaining why. If you find that one of your posts has mysteriously disappeared and you can't figure out why, then ask a moderator of that section(their names are at the bottom of every forum), with the thread and approximate date and time you posted it. We'll look it up for you and tell you why.

Typically it's an entire post that gets deleted and if that happens, you usually get a PM. In my experience as a mod, if only a part of the post was inappropriate, it would be deleted and in red text I'd say what was removed. At the bottom of the post there is an 'edit reason' (or something) and that would have more of a reason as to why that part was removed. I wouldn't always PM about that as it was fairly obvious the next time the user visited their thread or post unless it was something completely inappropriate.
But if you don't get an explanation, just PM a section mod. I know when I was modding, I had something like 12 VT tabs open at a time due to multitasking. Occasionally something may have slipped my mind, gotten accidentally closed or there could be any other assortment of reasons why the mods may not have sent something and they may have meant to. :)
