What happened to it? Am I not noticing something, or was it taken away?

Nope, it was taken out a couple of weeks ago.

It's been gone for about a month now. (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=172215) The administration decided it would be best to remove it as it doesn't really serve a useful purpose on this site, and was only being abused.

It got removed. I'm still a little torn on whether I should rejoice or feel upset however :(
