Does it cost money to make a forum?

I wanted to know if it cost money to make a forum.

Just a question that I thought would fit here

You can make free forums at sites such as Forumer.
But if you want your own, real domain, yes it costs money. It also costs money for the forum software.

oh cause I thought that you could make your own on a website but they would charge you money on the web.

This is pretty hard to make it. I don't know what to do. I know I have to have username but I really need some help.

The only thing I can find on forumer is the support forums and that's it.

Then select IPB or phpBB (I like IPB better). It should take you through the process.

I'm not sure of a free place to host a forum, But I can tell you that Not all forum "Software" costs money. PhpBB (http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/?sid=167730c9d2e4b3bde326472e6d746cec) is Free, and is Excellent.

You'd have to have a site to host it on though.

You can get some really cheap hosting, you're mot going to need a huge amount of space and bandwidth. That way you can get a proper domain, like www.virtualteen.org (http://www.virtualteen.org), instead of somthing like www.freeforums.com/virtualteen (http://www.freeforums.com/virtualteen), it just looks better. People, for some reason prefer sites that aren't free hosting an all that!
