I went to my doctor again today this was the third doctor I have seen about how I feel. The first one told me to stop being so melodramatic and almost laughed at me. The second acted like she wanted to help me but never did anything to help and left me just as bad as she found me. This doctor is actually taking me seriously. He has seen me twice so far and has talked me through multiple routes that I could go down. He talked a lot about anti-depressants and seemed quite keen for me to try them.... Problem is I am only 17 and they don't like prescribing them to people under 18 as it can sometimes make the situation worse... So I was wondering if there was anyone on here under 18 on them and whether or not they work for them or just make it worse.

By sister and I bith have severe depression, and I (thirteen) take Lexapro. She also takes lexapro, buyt at a higher dose. She's seventeen. From what I know, lexapro is fine when prescribed to people near eightteen. Good luck.

Be careful if you do decide to take them! My friend took a lot of medication a few years ago, and it made him so suicidal that he had to be put under guard in a hospital. Make sure if you take them that you have a lot of people who can support you and come if you need help.

I've taken lots of different ADs in the past. It may take a bit to get used to, as some cause weird side-effects and some even can even make it worse. However when they work they do actually work and they can help you get through.
If you're having any weird thoughts or side effects, definitely talk to your parents or doctor ASAP.
