Argentina wants the Falklands/Malvinas because they believe it's rightfully theirs and because of its resources. Argentina believes that the British residents of the Falklands/Malvinas are illegal occupants of an Argentine set of islands - an implanted group of people.

the argument is historic. Argentina argue that the Falkland Islands, or the Malvinas, are legally theirs due to what is classed as 'Inheritance' from the former Spanish empire. Under an inheritance ruling the islands would be Argentinian. However, history as always is not so simple. The British argue that we are the rightful owners of the islands due to an event (i think it is to do with spanish sailors and a british ship but i'm not sure) in history. This event is when the British colonised the island and were apparently the first people to settle there, as a result it is british. The argentinians argue that the spanish sailors aforementioned were the first settlers, and here enters the inheritance argument.
The Falklands will never be settled due to this historic maze of opposing arguments and rights of claim.

Just because the Argentines may not agree with you, doesn't mean they're stupid. Their opinion is different than yours, but that doesn't mean they're stupid.

yes, but as i explained, the Argentinians do not view that referendum as legal due to their belief that the people who took part in it have no right to be there in the first place!
