Well as most of you may not know my dog has bladder cancer. She is getting worse everyday and she goes outside alot but it's not enough for her.
We have to clea up her urine if she can't hold it in. We ot her a St. Francis metal and it broke off when we were in NC. Now she's just miserable without it and I have reason to believe that that metal was kepping her alive.
Now she's just flat out miserable and I can't take it. She takes meds to help her get through and they work but the doctor said that if something happens then we have to put her down.
She is 13 and that is very old for a dog. They said that since she was overweight she would die at 10 but she's gone past that.
Can someone here help me get through this? I can't do it on my own.

Well first of all sorry. I know what its like I recently lost a dear pet of mine too, my cat sam he was a good 17-18 years old they estimated, which is pretty old for a cat. but I got that cat when I was 5 years old. it was quite sad when he past.:miss: but the realty is animals don't live forever so you have to let them go. near the end of my cats life he was very ill he could hardly walk we had to feed him wet food so he could digest it. but in a way I think he's happier now because he's not in pain. maybe he went to cat heaven  If you need someone to talk too I can relate.

Well thanks then sphinx. I really need that. But I had my dog since my first Christmas in 1994. That dog is as old as me.

It's good that you had him as long as you had him. It is..really a best friend. You should consider yourself lucky for actually having a pet to love your whole life. But, all of us have depression once in a while.

I completely agree with Thomas, here. Dogs really are our best friends, they quickly loose their 'animalness', and they just become part of us. The loss is very real and very painful, I think because the love is so uncomplicated (unlike so many human attachments!).
Grief takes awhile, it comes in waves. Please surround yourself with people who love you and understand you and can be supportive thru this. Right now you have to prepare yourself for the inevitable.
And, in some point in the future when you're feeling better and put this relationship in it's proper place in your history, you'll find the room in your heart for a new fur person. And a lucky one, he'll be!

yeah my mum got my cats before I was born and one of them recently got put down so I know what it feels like.
All good things do have to come to an end, but it was still a good thing so just be thankful the dog lived past what was expected.
I hope everything works out ok.

It's really a girl dog. I have another female dog that is about 9 or 10 and is very active.
We recently had a scare when we found a lump on her chest and we thought it was cancer. That would be the last thing we needed. But it wasn't. it was just a fat bump
