I just saw videos of pigs getting castrated and dogs being electrocuted so they can be killed off easily and served as meals. So this gave me an idea for this post.
Do you guys consider eating meat inhumane. Why?
I'm not vegetarian, by the way.

I think the way we raise and kill the animals we eat is inhuman, but not actually eating meat itself; it's natural for humans. :)

Meat eating is not inhumane per say. But the way animals are treated in slaughterhouses and other similar places are definitely repulsive as you have mentioned.
Birds, for example, are debeaked, packed into small places, dozen of antibiotics and hormones are introduced into their system and hardly get any sunshine. And then they are sent off onto machines to get slaughtered. Those factories takes resources thrice as many as a farm of the same size.
This is inhumane. To do this to get bird flesh is absolutely repugnant. But unfortunately, not many people care about where their nuggets come from and what it has been through.
I hate poultry and meat. Never found them savoury or anything else. I Eat fish occasionally, though.

i dont necessarily see it as inhumane.
i personally cant stomach meat, i dont like the idea of killing animals at all.
but i dont think others have to be the same.
i ofcourse dont support the inhumane killing of animals, and i dont support the consumption of that meat which is unfortunately quite common.
but there are groups at there that take care of animals, and use much more humane means of killing the animal.

Eating meat isn't inherently inhumane. We are built to eat meat as well as plants. The commercial treatment of the animals we eat is often inhumane, though.

Humans are designed to eat meat. Animals are designed to be eaten. That's why they are made of meat. Seriously, we are omnivores so we need meat and plants. Carnivore animals don't care how they kill their dinner and that's natural. They just bite what they can reach to stop them to eat them. They don't knock them out first.

It is not inhumane to eat meat.
EDIT: The way we treat animals before we kill them, though, is inhumane.

Exactly, those who think it is should go and have nature select them out

I love meat.
But when I think of a humane way to kill animals, I just can't. If we give them a poison shot, that will go in the meat and potentially kill us. If we shoot them with a shotgun in the head, not only would that be very painful, but it'd ruin the meat. The most humane way of killing an animal is by chopping off its head, wouldn't it? Of course that animal is going to struggle, so of course they'll have to drag the animal to the chopping block.
Perhaps the best way to kill an animal is by keeping its head still, and taking a sniper rifle and shooting it point blank in the head? That way they feel little, to no pain. But most animals we eat are treated very good, or else the meat would be of poor quality and it wouldn't be as good of meat.

We can survive just fine without meat. The only reason to add meat in our diet is to get B12. And you can get it easily from fishes and crustaceans, too. You know.
And we are not carnivore animals. And we don't need to act like one.

I'm sorry, but we didn't move up the food chain to eat tofu and rice cakes. It's normal to eat meat and our bodies need protein from meat and milk to survive (what do you think builds your body?). However, like many said, I wish we could raise the animals more humanely but it is difficult with so many people on this planet to feed. We need to come up with a replicator system like on Star Trek. :D That or not have 7 billion people on one planet.

Eating meat and killing animals is fine in my eyes, as long as the animal is used for food/clothing/etc.
If the animal is killed just for the hell of it and left there, then I think that is wrong because it is a waste.

How do you think other animals kill their meals? Being chased down and eaten while they are potentially still alive is how animals die when eaten by any other predators. Inhumane doesn't come into it they aren't humans end of, they are raised to be eaten so the easiest and most efficient way is how it should be done.

Faris summed up all of my feelings on this subject. To eat meat is not inhumane -- that's a very natural and instinctive thing that numerous species do in nature -- but the way that we as humans gather the meat and treat the animals is disgusting.
I think it's shameful to treat animals in such a way and unfortunately due to how society has adapted to this practice, it's essentially the only way to obtain food in many area. A lot of people say "if you disagree with it and want change then you have to do it yourself", but when it comes down to this there isn't much of a choice I'm afraid. If I could raise my own animals and grow my own crops I would; however I live outside of a city and that isn't possible for me to do, nor is it for many if not most people.
I'm not a big meat eater and could most likely do without meat in my diet -- I would have to supplement the protein and nutrients of course -- but it could be done... I'm just not entirely sure if I would want to do it.

Also there is a big myth purported by the proponent of such industries. One of them is that it is we need this big number of protein! Like, twice your or thrice of gram of your size in kilogram.
You see, you only need 20% percent of protein off your diet. The other 20% is fat. The 60% are carbs. And vegetables, fruits and nuts are filled with it, in that exact ratio by the way. Plus, protein in animals are hardly absorbed by our body and some of it are rejected because of overcooking. Lentils, beans and nuts are the biggest source of protein in plants, you see.
Another would be Iron, where they boast that red lean meat contains it. Again, fruits and vegetables are full of it. Your summer fruity delight, watermelon, contains a good number of it.
Minerals like Copper, Zinc and other shit are found in abundance in spices and roots as well as number of fruits and vegetables. For sure you will not be deficient in Vitamins. Plants are natural producer of it.
The only vitamin you would be missing is B12, which is, as I said before, you can get it from farmed fishes and crustaceans. Or Milk in case you are a vegetarian who is allergic from fishes/crust or fortified cereal.
If you don't want to get rid off meat, at least try free range animals instead of industrial ones. Don't support cruelty.

I got medical proof that I need red meat to stay healthy. Otherwise I start shaking, getting tired and I can't move properly. (I got medical tests for that one at my doctor) I don't support the way they kill the animals, which is why all meat we buy are from local butchers who get their meat from free range farms. We never buy industrial, especially since we have large amounts of free range farms and large areas here to have all those animals.
I've even killed a few chickens before to put them on the table over Christmas or something. I like fish, but I love beef overall. And I won't ever remove it from my diet until it starts killing me.

When the human race started evolving drastically was after two events: discovering fire and becoming carnivores, that opened up so many options. Sure, animals should not be tortured when killed but eating them is more than fine.

I still think animals are delicious but agree they should be killed humanely. I don't really like fish except shellfish.

Eating meat in and of itself isn't inhumane - plenty of animals do, and we're built to - but the treatment and preparation of that meat is what makes indulging in it inhumane. I'm not vegetarian either, but if I could be, I would be.

I don't consider the act of eating meat inhumane. I consider the way it is treated before it is killed and treated to be inhumane.
