One of the Boston bombing suspects is dead and the second is on the loose and said to be 'armed and dangerous' after a dramatic shootout in the suburbs of the city.
The terrorist, dubbed 'Suspect 1' by the FBI, has been named as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26. He died in hospital with gunshot wounds and possible blast injuries after a fierce gun battle rocked the Watertown area hours after a police officer was shot dead at the nearby MIT campus.
His brother, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was seen on CCTV wearing a white baseball cap, is on the run and reportedly has explosives strapped to his body.
Boston Police Chief Ed Davis said: 'There is a terrorist on the loose who wants to kill people - do not open your door'.
Today, sources said the suspects were believed to be brothers from the Russia region near Chechnya and had lived in U.S. for at least one year.
Boston was in lockdown as police hunted the second suspect through the streets, with all mass transit shut

Wow... All I can say is that at least they aren't Muslim. I mean if they were, this would make their prejudice even worse.

You do realize that Chechens are mainly Muslims?
At least they are not brown and bearded with a funny accent(some gullible Americans have been programmed to believe those are the enemies). That's what would make the prejudice and hate crime worse.

I am awhere that there is a strong Muslim population there, but as I said before, the fact that they don't fit the terrorist steriotype that SOME of us Americans have classed as the enemy no matter what.

Yep. Good thing it wasn't that. Aren't we all glad? But still, Chechen has the Muslim tag on them. And as you have said, worse, if they'd have fit the stereotype.
(I don't understand the emphasize on 'some'? I said 'some' didn't I?? ؟؟ I never generalize.)

I'm hoping that they catch the brother that's still alive. They did such an awfully cruel thing, and I hope that we're able to capture him soon to prevent a suicidal attempt or further damage to our nation. We don't know who all they're associated with or if there are extended plans.

According to what I read they were muslims, and the guy was watching Islamic videos on youtube.
I'm pretty sure Chechnya is where the genocide happened too

Be honest, you were secretly hoping that these guys were brown skinned muslims from Iran or some other middle-eastern country we don't like.

I, for one, am relieved the bombers aren't "desert Muslims" from Saudi Arabia or Yemen - that would fuel lots of misconception and violence against Arab-looking-people in the US. But then again, there might be backlash against Muslims because of this - depending on whether ignorant people can figure what and where Chechnya is. One of the bombers was American, though.

They were both naturalized citizens, meaning they weren't born here. So yes, there IS going to be major backlash.

The older brother was a citizen, but the younger one was a permanent resident, I read.
We'll just have to wait and see the extent of the backlash. I know that one Muslim woman was verbally harassed and punched in Boston...the only incident of backlash I've heard of so far. Hopefully, the media will report responsibility and not jump to conclusions about Islam in order to not instigate backlash.

If a Muslim did a terrorist act,he or she is kicked out of the religions because the put under foot what god said in Holy Quran
"Do not transgress because god do not like transgressors..."
They transgressed...Now they are not Muslims...Even if they call themselves this...

This is an update on the story:
Revealed: Slain Boston bomber had Muslim convert wife and 3-year-old daughter but had sworn his life to Jihad
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was shot dead during a gunfight with police Thursday
Had videos dedicated to terrorism and Jihad on his YouTube channel
Said in 2010 he has 'a single American friend' and he doesn't 'understand' Americans

Tsarnaev family came to the US in 2003 as refugees, and Tamerlan became a permanent resident in 2007
Tamerlan became US citizen on September 11, 2012 - 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks
Aunt said he was a married father of 3-year-old daughter named Zahara
The older of the two Chechen brothers accused in the Boston marathon bombings was a recently married father of a young daughter who once dreamed of representing the US as a boxer, but over the past year, he had turned to radical Islam and got on the path of Jihad.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, the older brother of 19-year-old Dzhokhar, who is currently the target of a massive all-out manhunt in Boston at its suburbs, was shot dead Thursday evening in an armed confrontation at MIT.
Tsarnaev had a child, 3-year-old Zahara, with a 24-year-old college graduate who converted to Islam.

Jihad has rules...It is not like you are bored and say "Hey...let us round up a Jihad!.."
Sunni Salafi Muftis(priests)may have allowed their followers to kill people in the name of Jihad but Shia Jihad in my opinion is the main Jihad. Those Chechenyan brothers may were Salafi, but their Jihad is not accepted by most of the Muslim population of the world

Because he's conservative and I like making assumptions like everyone else.

Fucking nutters, should be tortured then face the firing squad. It's a shame cause its going to affect the whole Muslim community the majority of which are probably nice normal people.
