My kneecap has been KILLING ME since last Friday. It's crazy! Anytime I bend it, the pain becomes unbearable. If I transition my leg too quickly, it will hurt. If I stretch it slowly, I can feel like a popping sensation (that's if it is bent for a long period time).

If I bump it against anything, I'll feel a pain that will bring me down.

Idk what brought this on, or why it has lasted this long, but my parents have been of no help, telling me to ice it (which has not worked) and hasn't been any swelling or strange bruises or coloring. What is this, and what can I do about it?

I'm not a doctor obviously but it sounds a lot like CMP, which is where the cartillege behind your kneecap gets irritated, it can be really painful.

It can also take several weeks to settle back down (sorry!!). Ice is actually a good idea cos it can stop any internal swelling from getting worse. Also you can combine that with taking advil (ibuprofen) because that is anti inflammatory (not tylenol/paracetamol cos it isnt, and not aspirin cos its less safe), and putting a compression bandage on it. You may also find putting your foot up on a stool in front of you when you are sitting a long time can help a bit.

Rest it as much as you can for the next few weeks and then get back to gentle exercise and slowly build the strength back up. Swimming is good for that if you can (but avoid breast stroke). Good luck, and always read the label! :)

Well its not a ligament tear since you could move and there is no discoloration or swelling

Maybe a sprain cuz you can hear popping, do you play sports? Are you overweight?
