getting rid of acne

I'm not really sure this is the best place for this b/c its not really sexually related , but how do you prefer to get rid of tough acne? what about the little craters in your skin that get left behind? Is it different if its on your face or other places?
I've heard Proactive is too harsh and Acutane works well that its dangerous for girls.
Any suggestions?

I use Dermalogica products everyday and I barely have any acne or pimples.

If I do get the occasional pimple forming, I apply Dermalogica "Special Clearing Booster" and it goes away
