Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

So, is this correct: when you have high metabolism it means you body digests food faster and therefore makes it harder to gain weight, and easier to stay thinner.

Also, is having high metabolism healthy?

How do I know whether my metabolism is high or low?

Anything else?


Sorry for my ignorance on this subject.

Having high Metabolism is not a bad thing for you. it's like being a fuel efficient car if you will. Mayyyybbbeee that wasn't the right example... ANyways, the way to know if you have high metabolism is to eat unhealthy meaning like chips and pizza and redbull, and all that stuff for like a week and see if you gain any weight. OR you could go to a doctor and see. I know that I have high metabolism because I am one of the most unhealthy eaters ever. I mean if you asked me to name off 20 energy drinks, I would be able to do it easily. I weigh like 132 lbs and my height is 5'11.

high metabolism isnt necessarily better, it just makes your body work faster so it needs more upkeep. doesnt make you quite digest faster, but burns fats faster. normally that would make it abit harder to gain weight, but youd just have to change your diet.

Ok, a little late on the post... First of all, Metabolism isn't the rate your body digests food. It's the rate that you burn calories at. Higher metabolism means you burn calories faster. Low metabolism means you burn calories slower. A calorie is the amount of energy needed to heat 1 gram of water by 1 degree celcius. Having a higher metabolism means you can afford to eat a little more without gaining weight.

high metabolic rate is not actually better, it just makes your body speed up so it needs more maintenance. doesn't create you quite process quicker, but burns body fat quicker. normally that would create it abit harder to put on weight, but you would just have to change your diet.

It's perfectly ok to have a high metabolism. I do and I have no problems.

if you can eat a lot without gaining anything, or if you're always hungry, you have a high metabolism.

It's a good thing because it slows as we age. Enjoy it while you can, Della.

I have a really high metabolism and I eat loads of crap to try and gain weight but it doesn't work, I can only gain weight if I lay off exercise so it isn't always good :(
If you have a high metabolism everything goes quicker and you burn off more fat from sitting down, in a way it's less efficient :P

having a fast metabloism isnt a bad thing. it means the food you eat is digested quicker and so you are more of a thinner person. i have a fast metabolism and i would now because i eat nothing but junk (soda, candy, fast food, etc.) and hardly anything healthy and im considered underweight
