I'm openly gay in my school. All the kids and teachers know. Today in science no one was talking so one of the popular jocks shouted "awkward silence gay babys being born" after a few seconds he shouted "Oh look another gay baby". And it didn't stop there. After that he yelled "we should just kill them all!" I kinda just stared at him and he stared back at me, just like yeah I said it whatcha gonna do about it. The teacher just looked to see who was talking and turned away. Then I went up to her and asked to go to the bathroom. I ran out of the room to my favorite teacher Miss V's room and spent the 10 minutes left in the school day in her room crying. I live in freakin New York. Teachers are sopose to deal with bullying. When I told Miss V. what happened she said she would report the kid, but we both know the principal won't do anything because he refuses to help lgbt bullying.

Oh, I'm really sorry. It's sad because if any of my good friends that are gay opened up, the same thing would happen. I guess all you can do is ignore them. I mean they are honestly stupid for saying such hurtful things with out even knowing what they're talking about. Oh, and legal action can be taken against your principal. I mean if you are being bullied for whatever reason, and he does little to nothing about it, he can get in a lot of trouble. Again, I'm sorry that this has happened. Noone deserves this.

I hate my school. Students have been trying to start an LGBT support group for years and no matter how much we try the principal says no.

I actually would have thought any mention of killing anyone would have drawn immediate attention. The fact that it was towards gay people is irrelevant to me (although his initial joke doesn't even make sense to me and seems stupid.) In school, just like in law, threats of violence - even when they are meant as jokes - should be treated seriously.

Today the science teacher yelled at me for making a scene. All I did was ask to go to the bathroom and walk out.

I hope that never happens to me, I hope that the principal expells him, even though the chances are slim

First off, the first joke is something commonly said by middle school kids. Dont take it to heart. The killing thing though, that's grounds for a punch in the face.
Report everything! Keep a record of what you report. Have a teacher help you keep a record. If you find that the principal isn't doing anything to stop kids from bullying you, go above his head and take it to the superintendent of your school district.

I wish I could take it to the superintendent, but he's just as bad as the principal. I have a teacher helping me out but there's not much she can do and she's already bended the rules to help me. I don't want to get her in trouble.

Regarding the kids: Try to ignore them. If they tell you something to your face (directly insulting you) tell them to leave you alone, get a life, or explain to them that it isn't like you're hurting them. Whatever floats your boat.
Regarding the teachers: Keep telling them. Even if they can't do anything, report them. If this ever gets to court, or you need proof for something, you can prove that the school knew.
Regarding the LGBT support group: If your principal won't allow it, can you organize and meet outside of school? He can't throw a fit about that, or even if you guys sit together at lunch and talk. Just make it well known that there is a support group. Not like, "Come join! Come join!" but just let it 'float' around that there is one. Not a big deal. It's a really good idea.
Regarding the issue: Are others having a lot of problems? Document, document, document. Every little thing. Say who, what, and where everything happened. Don't exaggerate. Put it all in a file together with each other. Take it to the school board, and maybe even get it to court. If you go to the school board all prepared, it will definitely help your case. It sows you guys really mean business about your feelings about it; not that you are just had your feelings hurt once or twice. This is an issue, not a miniature problem.
I hope all goes well!

Thanks. I was going to try starting a petition for a gay-straight allience. I kinda can't meet outside of school because i live in such a rural area no one would be able to go.

Well there is always the internet! For example, you could video chat, or use a virtual whiteboard like Scriblink (http://www.scriblink.com/) where you can create a virtual whiteboard for free. You can invite other, type chat and voice/video chat. Sharing docs/pics is also available.

Idk I want to start a physical group, because things around my school need to change and we need to make it a safer enviormen before the bullying gets so bad a kid kills themselves. There's kids that have been so close, me included. We need a way to at least make people aware of the facts about the LGBTQ community, and the fact that we're human and at least deserve to be treated as such. The internet is all talk no do. Things need to be done and they need to be done now!

I don't know how you could get around that rule, though. What are the pricipal's reasons?

Different every time. Here's some of the best/worse.
It's against some students religious views
It could cause bullying to increse
Parents would complain
Other student would complain
GSA's aren't real
The supenintendent will say no
The board of education would fire me for asking
But yet our school has an official bible club.

This is lame man, I'm sorry. I thought new York was more on the liberal side.. Anyway, keep trying! A support group would be good for you an your school. Try to find a bunch of teachers that will support you :)

I have teachers that want to help. Hell I could get 99% of the teachers to agree but the principal will still say no. My part of New York is severly conservative.

Oh, they have a bible club? Well then that could get you somewhere. Are you in a public or private school?
Have you read these: GSA Network Legal Rights (http://gsanetwork.org/resources/legal-resources) and ACLU Legal Rights to GSA (http://www.aclu.org/lgbt-rights_hiv-aids/whats-your-problem)?
The second link has a lot of information for legal grounds about not only the GSA, but as well as LGBTQ harassment rights as well.

People say there is gay baby being born whenever there is an awkward silence people did that at my school a lot last year and they do it at my new school too. I don't really know where it started but it's been sound for a couple of years I guess.

I guess the craze missed us here in Australia. Or maybe it's just that awkward silences don't bother me.

Oh my gosh congrats!!!!! :) See, you can always find a way! I hope this works out and I wish the best of luck to you and your friends! :) You guys can work through this and show everyone that deserve to be treated equally and that a different sexuality isn't a bad thing. :)

Fantastic!! Good job :D If he "forgets" next year, just use the ACLU again. I'm sure he doesn't want his career ruined.
What about also forming a bullying awareness group?

No,no ,no.
Don't do that, that gets you in trouble, not the original person.
Tell an adult, if they don't listen, go to another, etc.
Hopefully you will have friends that will stick up for you.
I know, hard times
