I have very visible scars on my arm... And I am extremely worried that the very bullies that helped lead me to cutting will bully even further for the scars... I go back to school tomorrow and it would be fine if I didnt have to wear short sleve shirts for PE...

So my question is... Are there any effective ways of hiding scars or making them less visible?

Maybe foundation? Other then that you could forge a note to say you can't do it?or maybe wear a bandages

I've recently started on my arm because I ran out of room on my legs and it's more convenient. I actually just wear a bandage over them. I know it's obvious but I really can't think of any other way that will hide them effectively. If worst comes to worst I suggest you go with that.

I have a method where i get some magic markers and just draw away on my arms with black right over the scars so they're hard to notice. Also, it gives me an artistic side that my peers also think of (though i do really like art).

I've been pretty worried about that too, especially with summertime coming up--who wants to put all those scars on display for everyone to see, especially if your friends/family weren't aware that you were self-harming.

I've heard that for the arms, sometimes sweatbands can work great to hide them, and so can those little rubber/plastic wristbands, bangles, and other types of bracelets.

But to fade them, I've heard that folding up toilet paper or a paper towel to the size of your cut, dampening it with hydrogen peroxide, and then using tape or something to keep it on overnight will reduce the redness, for newer scars. Another way is to get vitamin e pills, the liquid kind like advil, and pop them open and rub the liquid on your arm, and leave that on overnight too. I've never personally done either, but those are both good ways.

But if you aren't going to keep yourself in long sleeves all summer, I'd recommend, if you are still cutting, move them to someplace less noticeable, or try to stop. I know scars can't be hidden forever, so I'm doing my best to stop, or at least move them, and then just letting my scars show.

I know how you feel. It is getting warmer, and the long sleeves are too warm for your liking. I would suggest makeup or an immediate effect. If you have a few days, I would put ice on the cuts. This would help them not become so red and obvious.

I eventually stopped caring, and let my scars show. I purchased medication to help make them disappear, and they eventually did.

Good luck.<3
