My dad had a collapsed lung about 3 weeks ago and had atube put in to fix it. Yesterday he went to the hospital because he thought he had another. He did. He is going into surgery on Tuesday to get it like glued to his ribcage to prevent future collapses. Does this surgery work well? Could he die from too many collapsed lungs? Any other info on this? Ive just been really worried about a lot of stuff so any info would help, even bad. I just would like some answers, thanks.

I've had a collapsed lung once. If that tube your talking about is a trach, I had one too. I have never heard of this surgery, I had extensive respiratory therapy. I dont think any one can die of a collapsed lung, unless they don't get a trach Immediatly. If your dads not an inpatient he should be doing well. :)
