Hey I'm 13 and fairly fit, but for whatever reason I can never get the nerve to take off my shirt at the beach, or even at home. I have armpit hair, and I am nervous about how my dad will respond, he always gives me a hard time (no pun intended) about not talking about girls around him, and try's to point out girls that he thinks I should think are cute. Apparently he is an expert on that kind of thing. Well, any ideas? Just suck it up or what?

P.S Finally, a place where I can say things that I would never ask anyone else... I love the Internet.

Well, I can reassure you that I'm sure that everyone is insecure about themselves at times, so that's perfectly normal for you to. Also, it seems like a normal interaction between father and son to talk about things like that, however if you don't like it, I would just personally recommend having a serious conversation with your father and tell him that you aren't comfortable talking about that kind of stuff.

Dont be self concious like that. Im very big and I wear a shirt at the beach. And about the dad thing, just tell him you want to find that someone by yourself, but dont say it in a way that will break a good relationship with him, he just wants to see you happy.

Huh sounds like my dad and what not but why are you self conscious? It doesn't make any sense, but if it honestly bothers you, what does it matter? It's not like you'll need to take your shirt off for very many reasons

it's actually a pretty good chance that your dad is just using you as a conduit to have some other guy to "talk about girls with"..kinda like how he would kid around with his other buddies with. If he is really pressuring you to talk to them and actually expecting a MOVE on your part, that's something you might want to discuss with him..but it sounds like he just wants to play the role of alpha male, where he wants to talk about girls with someone..so if thats the case, its all just in good fun and actually, girls think guys with some body hair is sexy (if your not ape-like), so u will fill into your new man-body and get used to it pretty quick. =)

Burn it off... Just kidding. Your dad will find out sooner or later. Mine are still small. They still look white and fuzzy.

my dad is the same way with me an honestly when he noticed the armpit hair and that I was "becoming a man" as he puts it it sort of made me even closer with him and even more one of the guys, so I don't think it will be bad might get the "my man" instead of "my boy" sort of comments but I think that stuff is just a dad's way of trying to relate with his son one common ground in his eyes is that you both are guys so he is trying to relate on that guy level
