If a person is confined to a hospital with a terminal illness and is incapable of ending their own life, should that person have the right to request euthanasia (effectively assisted suicide)?

I personally say yes. We all of the right to live, so in the same way we should have the right to end our lives at the time of our choosing, especially when we're going to die in the near future any how. Often times dying of a terminal illness is slow and painful and no one wants to deal with that bullshit. Then there is always the cost of keeping that person sustained. The only problem I see with this is that although they may have the right to die, they don't have the right to force someone else to kill them. So finding someone willing to do the job may be difficult.

Yes.
We all should have the right to live, and the right to die.

I have always agreed with it since I am fully pro-death or pro-choice. One of my great grand-mothers was disconnected since my grandparents decided that it was better for her to rest than suffer. Maybe that person in the inside is literally saying "kill me".

What makes it different from a person taking their own life when they aren't in the hospital. If we allow this, then we should allow suicides with no consequences.

I think it should be dealt with like transgender ism is dealt with. After counseling by a professional, and he determines that person is in the right mind to make such a big decision. Then I believe that person should discuss it with his family, and after that is done. Then he should be able to. But only if a counselor/therapist/etc. says he is in the right mind to make that decision and he has discussed it with his family.

I know I would never allow my dad to make that decision, selfish I know, but I would not have my dad leave earlier than he is supposed to. And my family believes that if you commit suicide you go to hell.

i believe that people should allow things to happen naturally, the end of your life will come at the end, and i dont think its good to keep some 'surviving' when thats all theyre doing.
however, i believe less so in active suicide by either side. if they dont want to be kept artificially alive, then let death come naturally when it does.

Everyone has their own basic choices. This is one of them in my opinion.

I think that if someone if suffering from a truly bad illness which is terminal they should be able to end there life. The only problem is the framework of making it legal because if people are placed in a vegetable state then there is a gray area within deciding whether or not they would be able to be killed with the consent of there next of kin

I know if I had a terminal illness I'd prefer to use Euthanasia.
I think everyone should have the right to die. It's their body.

I think it should be an option, but only for people who are terminally ill.

My preferred method of euthanasia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia_Coaster

Yes, everyone does have their own decisions about their life. But I feel that euthanasia is a suicide free-card. IT IS SUICIDE. TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF IS SUICIDE, SUICIDE IS A SIN!!!!!!!

If it were life support, that is a different story. When someone is on life support, their body isnt actually keeping them alive. That is the only type of life ending medical procedure I somewhat agree with ) :

Yes. If a normal, able person is able to take their own life, so should someone suffering from an illness.
