Ok. This is a bit complicated. But try and help me.

There's a boy in my class, Fred. I have a ginormous crush on him. But it's not straightforward.
•Naoise, a girl in my year, has a thing fir Fred, but Fred hates her. She's not competition.
•Emily, one of my friends, liked him. I think she still likes him, but she says she hates him. Long story. They're good friends though.
•I have only asked one guy out in my life, and he said no.

What do you think I should do?

You should talk to him and get to know him for awhile first, then maybe start flirting a little bit and seeing if he responds. If he does, then the feeling is probably mutual and you should go for it! :)

Well when you guys talk, just kinda casually compliment him. Like saying how he's really good at something, or his hair looks nice today etc.

Just say whatever comes to your mind about him, but don't be too overwhelming like 'ZOMG I LOVE YOU' just keep it toned down but in a friendly, flirty way :P
