Best replacement for a punching bag?

I want to have something to punch and kick but the gym in my building does not have a punching bag, I tried hitting trees and ended up having my blood on the tree bark, I also tried with a bunch of pillows on a chair but they are way too soft and I ended up flipping the chair.

Therefore I ask, is there any alternative? What else could you recommend?

Get a bag with a strap fill it full of towels and have it lined with cardboard can hang it up and start punshing anywhere, if your looking for at the gym just ask if they could get one, just practise without, making new combernations
