unable to write Visitor Messages?

Hi there!

I haven't been online on this forum the last couple of months, but I noticed today that I can't write any visitor messages to friends or to other people. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I can't find the box to write it in... :/

Am I starting to get blind or did I miss something? :)

Some people have disabled Visitor Messages or only allow friends/contacts and staff comment them. I allow non-friends, so if you visit my profile, you should see the comment box.

They may also have been banned. If they're banned you can't see the comment box.

EDIT: Visited some of your friends' profiles and I could still see the box.

Oh right! But the problem is that I can't writing anything to anybody. I can't even send visitor messages to old friends and friends I made today.

Yeah, maybe only staff can comment them, I don't know.. :(

It's likely if you saw the box and sent something, the VM went through for moderation. If you've been here for less than 3 months and have 250 posts, all VMs need to be approved by a staff member before they're visible. Jess isn't a staff member, so it has nothing to do with just staff being able to see.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what the problem is.

No, nothing at all. I know how the box looks like, because I can see it if I want to write a comment on someone's picture, but I can't see the box to write a VM on any profile.

Edit: @ xXl0sth0peXx: I haven't been online for a couple of days since last time, but I haven't written anything yet. I wanted to but I can't see a box.

Can you take a screenshot (I'll give you a hand with that if you don't know how) of what you see in the users profile when you go to leave a VM? That will make it easier to find out why you can't send VMs.



--- Edit, I just realized something - quite a few members on your friends list are banned. If you try to leave a VM for a banned member, you won't see a box. If you go to an unbanned members profile, you should be able to leave one.

Yeah, I know, but I made a new friend today (don't think he's banned because he got many pictures and stuff) but I can't write anything on his wall. :(

Alright, I think I have this figured out.

Go here (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions), and scroll down to "Visitor Messaging" and see if the box next to "Enable Visitor Messaging" is checked. I think if it's not checked, that would be why you can't send visitor messages. (If for some reason, that link doesn't work, go to your usercp at the top of the page, and then under settings and options on the left, click "edit options")

If that doesn't fix it, I'll send someone else to this thread who might know more than I do. :P
