Hi!

I need help. I just purchased 3 packs of condoms from a local nearby convenience store. The saleslady was staring at me and she seems to be curious on why I am buying a condom. I just wanted to try how it feels and how to put it on. Nevertheless, she still sold them to me. I am just afraid if anyone I know saw me buying them. When I checked the store, I was the only on there but I feel like someone saw me.

Are there ways to make it look more natural when you are buying condoms? Is it a violation for a minor to buy one?

Thanks!

It's no violation. Just be casual, don't look around in a suspicious way. If someone asks, you can just say you got it for a friend.

Its legal for any age to buy condoms. I was lucky to find two at the park. Lol. If you are so emberrased, were sunglasses.

It's not a "violation" for a minor to buy condoms at all!
In fact, it is actually illegal for any store to not sell a minor condoms! A store could potentially be fined a lot of money for violating this law, since it is potentially endangering the health and welfare of that minor.

Smile and wink at her!! I don't think that it's bad for you to purchase them...you're being responsible and getting experience so you're ready and know how to use the device when the time comes. Talking about condoms....I should suck it up, be a man, and head down to the store myself too! haha

It's not a violation. Be proud you're buying them, it goes to show whoever's selling them to you that you're being mature and practicing safe sex.

This,

I would like to add though I've noticed in the UK at least that many retailers are no longer selling condoms or lube or anything like that to anyone under the age of 16. I've noticed this in big retailers and chain stores such as Asda and Tesco. I know this doesn't aid anyone who isn't from the UK but I thought I'd that some places have a store policy that means they won't sell products like this to minors.

To get around what Derri said here, in the UK, you can easily pop into a GUM clinic or any other Youth Centre and you can freely ask for condoms, as many places are encouraging the use of them. Bare in mind you should do this now as once you turn 21, you're no longer eligible to receive them for free. Also, if you don't want to fear the embarrassment of buying condoms, you could just use the self-checkout queue. Since condoms are not age restricted, you can easily scan them, put them in the bag and go.

The way you can look "natural" buying condoms is buying them with a bunch of other stuff. For example, if you buy a couple of candy bars, groceries, and the condoms, then the checker won't even notice.

I agree with the folks above that you should use the self checkout lanes because that gives you the most anonymity.

There is nothing bad with buying condoms especially since you want to get to know them. The only reason why folks might give you a strange look is they don't want you getting into stuff like sex before you're ready.

I personally think it's funny when they look at me weird. Sometimes I buy stuff, like condoms and lube and a cucumber just to see the look on their faces hahaha. As it's already been said, in the US they have to sell them to you, so, no, it's not a violation. It's really stupid that in the UK they won't in some places. :what:

I felt a bit odd buying them for the first time, I wanted to know what they felt like and I had a close female friend who was hinting at some things coming over later.

Well I think that everyone should have the right to learn, and buying condoms is just a way to learn how to use them/put them on etc...
Don't fret about it man. As everyone has said if you are the worried about being anonymous, use the self checkout. I would be far too scared to do that so be proud of yourself man!
